This was a really great event last year! This year I'll be there with my (as of now nameless!) BSL group to hand out info and do basic pit bull education.

The third annual Oberlin Doggie Doo & Pooch Parade will be held on September 22, 2007. This event, sponsored by the Oberlin Area Chamber of Commerce, is a fund-raiser for local Lorain County animal shelters. All events will be held, rain or shine, in and around Tappan Square in Oberlin, Ohio, from 11 A.M. to 4 P.M.

The past years' Doggie Doo events have been wonderful success stories for the rescue organizations that benefited from the funds raised, the pets that were adopted, and for the many participants and attendees. This year's Doggie Doo is shaping up to be a great one as well! The day's events will include dog contests and demonstrations, and will feature an even larger number of dog rescue groups/shelters with pets available for adoption to loving, permanent homes. Vendors of pet-friendly and owner-helpful products will be on site with many of their products available for purchase. The day will also include the ever-popular Pooch Parade of dogs and their people! WOBL/WDLW will be onsite, hosting a live radio broadcast from the square.

Click the links on the left for more details about the day's events. Check back often, as updated information is coming in daily about participants and events!

If you're planning to attend with your dog(s) - and we hope you do! - please note the following:

* water will be provided at several locations throughout Tappan Square
* dogs must be on a leash, no longer than 6 feet in length, at all times (lock retractable leashes also at no more than 6 feet)
* dogs attending need to be comfortable with crowds, loud noises, other dogs, and close contact with people and other dogs
* all dogs need to be licensed and current on shots

Proceeds from Oberlin Doggie Doo sponsorships and donations will go to local pet shelters! In the past, the proceeds have benefited: OASIS (Oberlin Aid to Stays in Distress), Erie Shores Humane Society, Friendship Animal Protective League (formerly Lorain County Animal Protective League), the Lorain County Dog Kennel, Saint Francis Animal Sanctuary, and CATSS (Community Action to Save Strays).
