Zero(bc) needs a home

Postby AllAmericanPUP » July 20th, 2010, 6:39 pm

My brother wants to get rid of his border collie :(
He wouldn't listen to me a year ago when i tried telling him he couldn't handle one..now zero is a year old and of course he can't handle him and quite frankly i can't either. He needs a home where he can have a job.
He walks well on a leash and is fine with other dogs but pretty much just wants to herd them. He needs someone who can give him the time and training he needs.
He's not neutered but i'm going to look into getting that done if i can.
I think he'd be great in a home with someone who does agility.

My brother has no problem dumping him at the local pound but i'm trying to stop that from happening.

He's incredibly sweet he just needs an experienced home. Located in Taylorville,IL but I'd be willing to transport him a few hours.

If anyone knows someone who might be interested please email me at foremant86@yahoo.com

these are the only updated pics i have of him

If I were you, I'd contact Border Collie rescues. I don't know if they will take owner surrenders, but it's worth a shot.

Honestly i could just strangle my brother. Seems he's had a change of heart and has decided to keep Zero. His GF's 13 yr old daughter is a big dog lover....she kinda reminds me of myself at her age and he doesn't want to upset her by getting rid of zero. But I'm going to make sure he gets him neutered and I'm going to look into agility classes for Zero and her to do together.

If your brother doesn't have the money for a neuter, ask him to call Illinois Spay 877-475-spay. They might have a low cost spay/neuter clinic coming up in your area or may be able to put Zero on a transport to a low cost clinic. Our Humane Society offers coupons for reduced price speuters so he might also want to check your Humane Society. Are you in Sangamon County?

That's excellent! That's also a great opertunity to teach the girl about why getting a dog spaded/neutered is so important. Getting her involved with dog sports is great idea. You may have a hand in molding the mind of a future "responsible dog owner"

BCs are what I grew up with and I will say, I will never own one now - they are a lot of work (but I love them!).

I hope things can work out in the best possible way for Zero.

Did i never put up an update?
sorry!!

I thought my brother wanted to keep him but come to find out it was actually his girlfriend texting me from his phone saying he wanted to keep him then him and his girlfriend broke up and she was suppose to take Zero but she never did so i asked my brother if he wanted me to find a rescue and he said yes so i started contacting all the rescues i could find in the surrounding states and posted on some BC forums and then the coordinator for the BC rescue of minnesota contacted me saying she would be in Naperville,IL on sunday the 5th for a disc dog competition and if I could bring Zero to her she would be happy to take him, just so worked out that we were going to Chicago that day to see family so i got him UTD on hit shots and flea prevention and we made a quick stop in Naperville and now he's happily being fostered :D

my brother's GF threatened to poison my dogs because how dare i take away HER dog and she claimed she was gonna get him back from the rescue(even though she has no idea what rescue he is with)...she's a very trashy person and is all talk but to be safe i contacted the rescue and gave them a heads up so they changed his name to Tippy so she wouldn't be likely to find him.
(have i ever mentioned i don't really like my family?)

here he is. He looks great :D
