Dog Play Videos

Does anyone have any good videos showing what normal dog play looks like? Or know where I can find some? I'm particularly interested in wrestling play. I tried searching on here and on youtube, but haven't found anything good yet.

I have dog training client who has never had a dog before and she asked me last night how dogs play with each other. I explained what normal play looks like, but I think it would really help if she could actually see it.

Note - This dog is NOT a pit bull, and from the limited interactions I have seen at class, the dog seems to like other dogs and have appropriate body language. If I had an appropriate dog and space, I would have no reservations about letting them play off leash at class so I could narrate a play session for her.

If I remember, I'll get some videos of my gang playing...do you need them via youtube, or just emailed video files?

I can even send Inara vs. The Weiner...great for viewing self-handicapping in play!

That would be awesome! You can send them via email if they're small enough. I'll probably end up putting them on youtube if you don't mind. I think that will be easier for this particular client. I can do that myself though if you want to just send the files. Thanks so much!

I will if Erin sends them!

I also realized later this morning that I could probably get some good footage myself at the shelter. We have a fenced yard where the dogs go out to play every morning and I'm sure if I just went out there for a while, I could film all kinds of neat stuff.

Damn dogs never cooperate. They wrestle EVERY morning...I usually have to tell them to KNOCK IT OFF!

This morning, when my camera was out? I had to convince Score to play...and he half-heartedly tugged a toy with Inara. Which actually made for entertaining footage, because you can see how hard she's trying to keep him in the game. lol

For the other end of the spectrum...I give you Inappropriate Lab Play! :D

But look how beautiful Score's social signals are...I :heartbeat: him. (he detests these puppies)

Yay! Thanks so much! These are great! And you are motivating me to take the camera out to the play yard at the shelter to get some more footage, just for fun.

What breed is your clients dog?

I'm pretty sure "playing Pit Bulls" would scare the bejeebus out of her... it took me a while to get used to all the growling/snarling/head butting and body slamming that mine do. lol

She's a Heinz 57. Probably some shepherd and some lab, but there is definitely something else in there too.

Not sure if I would consider this normal dog play but it is my crew doing their thing. Starts a bit slow but Karma shows off her breakdancing moves after around 45 seconds

All those videos are great.

I love the bulldog and weiner.

Karma always steals my heart. Are Earl and Truman related? He looks huge. Kaiden is so cute. Does he ever put his kong down. :giggle:

I need to video tape Kinzyl and Gotty because I get alot of slamming, rolling around, playing leap frog and they are very loud. :| I think it is normal play. They love it and can't get enough of one another sometimes. I am afraid sometimes because I always wonder what the neighbors think they are doing.
