My name is Barbara and we have a beautiful red nosed pitbull names Lucy.......she was a rescue. We live in the country south of Erie PA on 30 acres. Lucy has the run of the place and stays near the creek and trees. She is a doll.
My husband Kevin and I have two kids a son 25 and a daughter 23. My husband is a teacher and I work at a local university. Our kids both graduated from the University and are off beginning their careers.
The main reason I'm joining is becaus Lucy has just been diagnosed with Masticatory myositis. Actually the vet is still conducting tests to see if this is what she has.....she has the atrophied muscles (we thought it was an old age thing as she is 9)....she has been throwing up her kibble and re eating it immediately (softening it up I guess).......she went to the vet for her normal yearly shots and we commented on how her head was so "skeletal".........
Anyone ever heard of this? It sounds like the chronic form of the disease.......however she is able to open/close her mouth just fine. If anyone has some input I'd like to hear it. Thanks
Barbara
