Demo, completely random question - if I was taking Connor out to pee and got jumped, would he defend me as readily as he defends you? Or if I screamed "help" would he come? I'm just curious how their commands/instincts transfer to people that aren't their owners. I assume he would definitely help Michelle since you guys live together?

He would bite for Michelle and I because he is protective, moreso of me than her. Anyone else...he'd likely still bite, but he would be doing it out of reflex and not consciously thinking about protecting his handler. I'm probably the only one who could get him to bite a passive person without equipment, as that is a behavior that requires a lot of trust to pull off.

It would not take long for him to learn to work for another handler though, if they were suitably experienced. I would never allow anyone else to use a correction collar on him though.

That's too much to remember. When I need him to drop off bad guy #1 and help me deal with bad guy #2, I just scream "help!" That's what I'll do in during an attack anyway.

I think this is getting back on topic:

From what I know and have seen of police/protection dogs, which isn't that much, shouldn't their temperment be stable enough to be similar to a therapy dog or at least somewhat friendly(unless activily working)?
For instance you have a friend/relative,who no nothing about dogs, come over for a visit, they happen to shove the dog away without thinking, how is the dog going to respond?

I'll say that I wasn't worried that Riggs was gonna chew me up when I was kicking him to protect my beer and pizza. (otherwise I wouldn't have been doing that!) ...isn't there a video of that, Michelle?
