I adopted a pit mix from FL a month and a half ago...he is somewhat of an alpha dog...I say somewhat because he is also a BIG baby and I have seen how he is a little submissive around my mom's female 130pd Dogo...but maybe that is because he has only been around her in her house. ANyway, I recently adopted a english/french male bulldog from TX. The rescue said he is also an alpha dog. I haven't seen it first hand because he just arrived last sat night at 3am and he is staying with my friend until I move on Sat. I am planning on keeping the dogs separate for a bit at first. I bought a petgate and I plan on keeping the new dog in the kitchen and my other dog loose in the house. I plan to rotate them and walk them separately until they get used to each other. I do plan on doing a short introduction, outside on an unfamiliar grounds so they can just smell each other and greet each other for a moment. Then I plan to bring them both back inside, separately and let them just get used to being around each other. I live alone in an apt and I am a little nervous about when I do finally let them loose together. I was thinking about muzzling them both and letting them have at it in the apartment and at least they can't harm each other, but I dont know if muzzling them will add stress and cause them to be more prone to aggression at that time. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated because I am praying that my boys will become buds! if not, I am in BIG trouble!!!
