Good-bye Tony

Postby iluvk9 » April 26th, 2008, 3:21 pm

My friend, Gerda, had to let Tony go. He was a Pit Bull that she rescued about 6 years ago. The ACO found him literally being kicked around, like a soccer ball, by some teenagers. He was only a few months old and they broke his leg and growth plate.

Gerda took him into the private shelter she owned, and fell in love with his adorable brindle face. His leg surgeries cost thousands, which she paid for.

Tony had a wonderful life. He often flew to their second home in Florida with Sugar and Georgia, her two other Pit Bulls. Next, he moved to VT with them and enjoyed acres of land.

Unfortunately, all the training she provided did not stop him from "nipping at" people. He went too far and bit someone's leg.

Tony had a wonderful life and was very lucky to have found Gerda.

Good-bye,Tony.

Sorry tony.... that you had been so badly damaged that training and love didn't keep you from hurting others..... sounds like you had a fantastic life with Gerda and the other pups.

RIP Tony....

Thank you, everyone. Gerda knows she did the right thing, but you know how upsetting doing the right thing can be.

I always called him "Tony Balogna". :giggle:

How sad for both of them it had to end this way.

Thank you all for your kind words. They are so upset, but as mentioned, had no choice.
