Dear, Sweet Romey

Postby LMM » February 15th, 2010, 9:03 am

RIP sweet baby, you will be sorely missed.

Romeo (or Romey as I called him) was part of a litter of 6 pups that we pulled from the PSPCA. He's been sick all week, in and out of 2 different vets with no one coming up with any answers as to what was going on. Our best guess is that he had a raging viral infection that his little body just couldn't shake. We took him to emergency yesterday because his gums were white, when they had been pink the night before. Dr. Lamb called me last night around 10 to say that Romey was on his way out. His blood sugar plummeted and his heart dropped severely. One of my volunteers was able to rush up there to be with him, thank GOD. I just didn't want him to be alone. She called me after while Romey was still in her arms. I can guarantee you neither one of us understood what the other was saying during that particular conversation.

It's amazing to me and always will be just how much the sweet tiny puppy affected all of us so deeply. When he wasn't at the vets he was cuddled in someone's arms with them mothering him. We only had him one week and 2 days and we will feel his impact for a long time to come.

Romey was only 6 weeks and barely 4 pounds by the time he passed but the hole he has left in our hearts feels ginormous.

RIP sweet Romey, we love you and will miss you forever.

You guys fought so hard for him, if love alone could save a sick pupper, Romey would have thrived. I was so sorry to read that he passed, but there is no question that he knew love in his short life.

RIP Romey. At least because of you and your volunteers Romey was able to know love.
