Oh Jen. I am so, so, sorry. Sometimes, there is nothing that can be done except to let them go. RIP, Mac, your demons are gone now.
I can only please one person per day. Today is not your day, tomorrow doesn't look good either.

Thank you for the kind words, everyone. This was, by far, the most difficult decision I ever had to make. I wish he had been capable of giving me another choice and I so wish I could have "fixed" him.
