My heart shatters as I write this, one of our members and a dear friend of mine, pLaurent, lost her beloved Chloe on 8/23. Here is what she says:

Chloe has a huge tumour on her spleen that ruptured and it's already spread to her liver. There is no hope and I am having her euthanized tonight. I don't know how I am going to do this to my sweet sweet girl.

August 23, same day I lost my husband.

Chloe was Peg's life, her heart, her dearest friend and, as you can imagine, she is distraught. Please join me in sending her healing thoughts & well wishes.

Goodbye dear sweet Chloe. You were one special little girl & are missed more than you know. Sleep well

Debbie, thank you for this, and thank you all for the nice words.

Chloe was such a special girl (as all our bullies are special) and she brought laughter and happiness into my life when I thought those were gone forever.

I"m so lucky to have known her and to have been able to rescue her from cruelty and persecution in Ontario. She paid me paid back every single day and will be missed forever.

Oh, no! Not Chloe... She was such a sweetpea, loving everyone, even the most devilish kitties, and the original giant lemon...

pL, you saved her from so much pain and suffering, your love and care brougth her from a skinny heartworm ridden dog to this beautiful, thriving girl. You gave her everything, and she gave everything back. She had the happiest of lives with you. We'll all remember her.

It is once of the hardest -and most selfless- things to do when you euthanize an animal; but you showed her one last giant gesture of love : you ended her pain when she could not do it herself.
