Recalled Dog PRODUCTS

Postby iluvk9 » September 12th, 2010, 5:28 pm

My DIL's Mom was having problems with their older GSD. She is okay, now, but they think it was because of the recalled Glucosamine tablets they have been using for years. Personally, I didn't realize NON FOOD items (such as ear cleaner) could pass on salmonella.

The list is too long to post, but there are some odd things on there that you might be using...so check it out.

Thanks, Joyce. That is a long list!!! I had no clue salmonella could be passed by non-consumed items either  . I'm glad Ino does not use any of the items on the list now, but only because my vet gave me an ear wash for Ino since he kept getting yeasty ears (swimming) so I stopped using the 3 in 1 cleaner that was on the list over a year ago. The one his vet gave me smells better anyway :D !!

I KNOW!!! My DIL's Mom found out because Casey, unknowingly, had signs of salmonella poisoning, but it wasn't until she went to the store to get more glucosamine tabs that she started investigating. They were out of her brand at all stores and she called manufacturer and found out why.

Afterwards, she also realized she cut the tablets on her cutting board, and since there was no powder residue, she didn't scrub it clean. She could have passed the salmonella on to the humans, too. :sad2:
