A post on the Madison, WI CL pets section:
"I know this doesn't belong here, but it really upsets me that people don't know the breed of their dogs. I'm in school to go into the veterinary field and I can tell you right now that there are no kennel clubs to my knowledge that acknowledge the "American pitbull terrier". There are many types of "bully breeds" recognized by kennel clubs but no such thing as pitbull terriers. Please figure out what breed your dog is and not just generalize it as a pitbull."
The pets section in Madison is crazy. There are fights and flagging constantly. While Madison is a pool of highly educated, liberal hippies, the surrounding areas are all farmers and simple town-folk. It's a recipe for disaster.
And then you have this. I emailed back urging him/her to please please please do some more research...among other things. I tried to be nice and educational...not sure if I pulled it off
Sorry, had to vent a little.

I looked again today and the post has been removed. I'm sure he/she got an overwhelming response, there are a lot of pit bulls in Madison. Someone did post a link to a dog breed info website. I just hope the person decides to get over it and actually educate themselves.
