Dog Training/Behavior Books!

This is where to talk about Pit Bulls!

Postby Tubular Toby » December 16th, 2012, 6:12 pm

I received a $20 amazon gift card and I think I'm going to spend it on a dog book (or put it towards a DVD). I've read The Other End of the Leash and I loved it. I've also read Control Unleashed (but do not own...). Fiesty Fido & For the Love of a Dog. All wonderful books, so I'm just wondering what else you guys may suggest that you personally enjoyed or have heard great things about. Anything tailored towards reactive dogs, etc is great, but definitely not mandatory. I also love books with lots of stories about dog trainer's/behaviorist's experiences. I want something that is a fun read, but also educational.

(And I was going to post this on Facebook, but decided to post it here too! :P)

Thanks, I'll definitely add that one to my list! The only reason I still posted on Facebook was because I had several people that aren't members here that I'm hoping give me some good ones. :D

I didn't put this over on Facebook 'cause I didn't think about it, but the "Language of Dogs" DVD by Sarah Kalnajs is INVALUABLE.

I like Suzanne Clothier's book "Bones Would rain from the Sky" and would recommend it.

I have read many of her articles from her web site too --

Brenda Aloff's book Canine Body Language is good too but it is more technical and not as much fun to read as Clothier's book --

I really enjoyed Aloff's Canine Body language and her book on dog aggression:

I also really REALLY liked McConnell's book on emotions in dogs:
