Barn Swallows

Anything that doesn't fit into the other three catagories

Postby Marinepits » June 9th, 2008, 2:43 pm

My Police Department has a nest of barn swallows, located in the rafters of the sally port (garage). They've used the same nest for the past 9 years. Here's the latest generation:

I'll update pics as they grow.

They are SO fast and they fly at weird angles, kind of like bats. And they are so used to us that they will fly really close to you -- your hair will move as they go screaming by. They're fairly small, too, about the size of a sparrow, but their wings are quite large.

My childhood was spent dodging those freaking Barn Swallows. :x They had nests over our garage light and they got SO protective that you couldn't get out of the car without one of them dive-bombing your head.

My Dad would take the nest down when they were finished with it and sure enough, a new generation would re-build. :rolleyes2:

 We used to have them at my old house when I was a kid, they'd better not move in to my new house!!
I can only please one person per day. Today is not your day, tomorrow doesn't look good either.
