The people I get my venison from have started up again. I was there earlier today, and they are willing to work with new people.
The meat is free, but takes some processing. It's basically the leavings after they butcher deer every day. I pick it up in big tubs, bring it home and spend some time cutting and bagging.
Please PM me if you want more information. This is NOT for people to eat. I've been there when they are processing the people parts, and they are kept very neatly. The other meat - legs, ribs, etc - is put in tubs for us or barrels for the rendering company. They have to pay for the renderer to come and get it, so they are happy to give it away for pet food.
Tina came out for one butcher night last year, she can attest to the quality of the meat, and the amazing volume. It was also running around the woods less than 24 hours before you get it.
