Bones?

Postby Flex235 » March 9th, 2012, 10:34 pm

I started Krome on a complete raw diet about 3 weeks ago. I feed him leg quarters most of the time cause of price. Well I took him in to the vet today to get weighed so we can get the right size Vectra. The vet asked what I was feeding him and when I said mostly raw leg quarters I thought she was going to spank me! She said that the chicken bones would splinter no matter what and do a lot of damage. Am I doing something wrong by giving him the bones? Very confused!!! :|

Most vets don't support raw feeding as a lot of their income and training comes from Hill's Science Diet stuff. The only bones that will splinter are cooked bones. You are giving him a natural diet that will keep him healthy.

Unfortunately, lots of vets aren't very open minded about raw diets.
