Eagle's History

Postby fenella » August 17th, 2009, 11:40 am

For those of you who aren't football fans, I thought I'd give a little background, which may help strengthen your arguments...

"We're very disciplined in what we stand for," Lurie told reporters just over two years ago. "Let me give you an example -- a few years ago we had a couple players who were . . . to put this nicely, not very respectful of their dogs. . . . Well, we don't respect that. We don't do that. And they were gone from the team almost immediately if not immediately. That sets a tone, that these kinds of attitudes are unacceptable."
Lurie is the owner of the Eagles.

There was a player released after abandoning a 3 month old rottie pup, and another after he beat 2 pit bulls. The Eagles didn't say at the time that that is why they were being released, but Laurie's quote above (from 2007) seems to indicate that it was at least a contributing factor. What's the difference? Those players weren't big money makers.

I came across the quote on a blog:

The blog post is great and has some links to some great articles.

Eagles History?

Eagles are history as far as I am concerned. I hope Donovan McNab jumps ship to a different team - I mean, come on. He's been with them for a decade, and they want to bring in Vick to take his spot down the line? Really?

The amount of hypocrisy when money is involved is easily charted on an XY axis.

The higher the possible income, the lower the standards of decency. It looks like a playground slide, you just keep sliding down until you hit bottoms out (hiring a serial rapist or something, which is like one notch below where they are now). Oh sure, I just made the slippery slope logical fallacy arguement, but seriously, what is next? Child molesters, rapists, and serial killers?

They can already take a "pounding" in prison! Why not on the line of defense then!?

By the way, any incoherency is probably from a recent bout of total insomnia (hello world, I have been awake for four days! yippee..)

McNabb told them to hire Vick.
