Oreo (foster) needs good thoughts...

Food, Fitness and how to keep them healthy.

Postby TheRedQueen » April 16th, 2010, 3:43 pm

I dropped Oreo off today for her spay...went to pick her up at 3 pm as instructed. They came out and told me that she's oozing and hard around the incision site, so they wanted my permission to take her back in, put her under and re-open the site to see what the problem is...so of course I said yes.

I'm waiting for a call...

Thanks for all of the good thoughts! :D

Oreo is home, and doing well. They opened her back up, and found a huge blood clot. So they fixed that all up, and stitched her back up. She's wrapped in a big ace bandage, but is being a good girl and leaving it alone. She's just now eating some dinner (and her antibiotic and rimadyl).

I'm so glad they figured out what it was and got her fixed up!

Poor thing. I'm glad things turned out ok. Those little bastards are strong. She will heal up nice and fast and will be flying around the yard in no time

update...Oreo is healing up just fine...no swelling, no bleeding or oozing...everything looks great! She kept her bandage on for most of the time she was supposed to (24 hours)...and has left her incision alone. She's on leash walks for now...which isn't making her happy...she wants to ZOOM! But she's being a good girl, hanging in her crate mainly, with raw bones and kongs.

great news :) Now she just has to tough it out through the "mandatory-rest-yet-I-don't-feel-like-resting" phase
