Itchy, scabby nipple

Food, Fitness and how to keep them healthy.

Inara's been scratching at the right side of her tummy a bit more than usual. I was loving on her today and noticed that one of her nipples almost looks like she scratched it open so it bled and then scabbed over. It's not swollen at all, or hot to the touch. It just looks like dried blood. I of course can't get a pic as my camera battery is entirely dead. But any thoughts what this might be? I assume this doesn't necessitate an immediate vet visit, though if it's still scabby and itchy on Monday I may call. Thoughts or ideas?

As long as it doesn't feel like it's hard or has a lump under it I wouldn't worry. She probably scratched too hard and caught it. Everyone has been itchy lately!!

Eve does that from time to time as well. The more she scratches it, the more it bugs her and a cycle starts sometimes. I put a t-shirt on her when that happens.

Thanks, ladies. Being the paranoid mother that I am, I of course immediately started thinking of all the cancers she could have. :-)
