No...I've been inbetween moves and trying to get repairs on the house done, and I haven't had much time for the internet lately. He's healed up nicely, but seems to eat better when I mix his kibble with warm water and make it soupy...makes it easier to swallow. He has an issue with panting now, too...instead of having his tongue hanging out all the time like before, he'll keep his tongue in but keep his mouth open. There wasn't much exterior damage, just a lot of bruising on the inside where the dog clamped down and had him pinned down. It made him hurt when he swallowed hard kibble, so I had to make a liquidy mash for him. Now he can eat the whole kibble so long as there's water in there as a "buffer". And his bark is just fine too...it didn't damage his vocal cords. He's my baby...the sweetest one of the bunch.
Might as well tell the story then!
I was visiting at a friend's house and had my boy Otto with me. My friend has a fenced yard, so when Otto had to potty, I put him out there. About 30 minutes after letting him out, I hear Otto literally screaming. I ran outside and saw that this HUGE Rottweiler-ish looking dog had gotten into the fence...I can only assume he'd jumped the fence. He had attacked Otto and he was trying his best to get his legs under him but couldn't...the dog easily outweighed him by 15-20 pounds. Me being the stupid person I am, tried to break up the fight, but nearly drew back a nub. I tried throwing stuff, I tried the water hose, I tried hitting the stray with a SHOVEL, and nothing worked. Thankfully (and this is one good reason why I'm NOT a fan of gun control) my friend had his shot gun in the house. I told him to please shoot the stray dog but to NOT shoot Otto. He's a good aim, and got as close as he could and shot the dog in the head and didn't hit Otto. It was quick and painless...the dog didn't even know what hit him...but I still cried that the dog had to be killed...I hate it when stuff like that happens. But I was so thankful that Otto was alive and still waggling his butt. He had a small lesion on his throat and some cuts on his legs, but nothing that needed stitches. I took him to the vet. They evaluated him, put him on ten days quarantine because it was an unvaccinated dog that attacked him (even though Otto's rabies is current), and since there was nothing to send to the lab for testing we couldn't test for rabies. Then they said to soak his kibble in water and chicken broth and make a mash so that he can be comfortable while eating. He was put on precautionary antibiotics. But hes' bounced back, but a few pounds lighter. He's the same old mooshball as before...I'm just thankful he's still here.
