A few websites that list pet friendly hotels, beaches, parks, etc

always be sure to call the hotel, some have pet fees or have changed their policies.

Local Triple A offices sell books about travelling with your pets and the books are updated yearly!

Many of the Ritz Carlton hotels have special pet weekend packages...

Also, look up if there is a weight limit at these hotels...many hotels will allow pets...but, for example, only up to 35-40 lbs.

Residence Inn is pet friendly.

Be sure to be good doggy guests. My father was in the hotel business for the past 25 years. He said that the biggest complaints were noisy dogs (and just b/c your dog doesn't make a peep at home does not mean it won't make a peep in an unfamiliar place if you leave the room - I learned this the hard way), and people who did not clean up after their dogs. He also said that many people used retractable leashes, and allowed their dogs to run up to just anyone...be wary that not everyone likes dogs, and sometimes it's a big shock to walk around a corner and be face to face with a dog.

When we travel I always try to find Motel 6!They don't charge extra for the dogs and frankly, they don't care how many dogs you have in your room! :D

Staybridge Suites http://www.ichotelsgroup.com/h/d/sb/1/en/home I brought 3 dogs with me to a funeral because it would have cost me more to kennell them all, I had no problems at all. I asked for a room near an exit to the "dog walking" area so that I wouldn't scare any visitors or get any complaints about the breed.
