Cole's tribute to his sister.

Postby ArtGypsy » July 9th, 2009, 9:09 am

I realize this may raise a few eyebrows at the very least, and put my decision making skills as a mom at question, at worst. but..........here it is...........

you're supposed to be able to click on the link, like Dar's album, but it looks like we have to paste the link.

duh.

I think it's lovely!

As long as Cole is comfortable with his decision (and you with yours), who really cares what others think?

thanks guys..........

Cole designed the tattoo, Gerry sketched it up, and then we used it as the logo on
http://www.voicesforamanda.org.

I was very very against the tattoo, but I finally realized I kept telling him he 'would regret it in the future'.....
til I finally realized he, as a grown man, would probably suffer less with 'regret' than the 'mature' 15 year old brother, who felt strongly about this 'visual-poem' to his sister's life, and was hurting NOW, today", with no ability to pay his own tribute.

we as adults spend and incredible amount of money for 'tributes' with funeral, stones, etc., but for Cole, this was his way.
And who was I to argue, REally?

:| Well, I have to admit, As a Mom, It's easy to 'judge' other moms.....and well....I value your guys opinions...(to a degree).... :P
so I kinda wanted to explain it....

I would have never thought in a million years I'd liet my 15 year old get a tattoo like this.
but when the whole world changes, so do things that seemed 'important' and right'.

Honestly...you're a wonderful mom for allowing him to express his feelings in the way he feels best. :hug3: He's obviously creative and loving...and I think it's great that you allowed him his freedom in this case.

I think it's great that you allowed Cole to do this. It's so important to let each person grieve and remember in their own way.

Thanks, Guys................I'm so glad he found some sort of peace, having it done. I have to be honest though, every time I see it, it breaks a little piece of my heart. :(
Just the poetic statement of the Power of Loss, Grief and the Primal Need to Wear a Piece of our Departed, ..Always.

Personally, I think it's gorgeous! You know that I am very into doing tributes in that manner...and who cares about his age...he was able to make a decision, and you were able to support him :hug3:
