Natural Balance

Postby hugapitbull » November 21st, 2009, 9:30 pm

Anyone have any experience with this food? I'm considering changing from Royal Canin duck and potato to the Natural Balance sweet potato & venison. I need to stick to the single source protein and single source carb because of Trouble's allergies.

Feeding two, the price of the Royal Canin is pretty high, and the availability through a veterinary source only is a bit of a pain also. And, my primary vet doesn't carry it.

Two different sources I've read rate the Natural Balance higher than Royal Canin, just wondering if anyone has any real experience with it.

Renee was on Natural Balance for a while, and I use their food rolls for treats all the time. It was the first "good" food I tried her on. She did well on it, was MUCH less itchy than on the crappy food she ate before. Then I switched her to Chicken Soup and she did even better, so I haven't gone back to the Natural Balance. She was on the regular old formula, not one of the allergy ones. And though I suspect she has food allergies, I don't know what they are. Luckily it's not bad enough for me to worry about.

A friend of mine with an allergy dog has had good luck with Blue Buffalo, which you can get at PetSmart.

Faust is on it!!! :)

I am very, very happy w/the results... his allergies seem to be under "control" right now. He hasn't had a serious breakout in a while.
PetCo sells it, and if they don't carry it in your area store they will order it for you.

I like Natural Balance, I looked up both guidelines of the food and it looks like you could feed less of the Natural Balance at least in comparing their weight/cup per day charts.

Kato eats it and we both love it! This is the first time he hasn't had either diarrhea or soft stool since I've had him and he goes crazy for it.
I would give it a try.

That's enough good reviews for me. I'm off to Petco during the ball game to get some. Thanks for all the feedback, it really helped convince me to give it a try.

Sorry to put a negative spin on this...but it is a forum and I have an opinion. :)

I used Natural Balance dry for years. Then I saw these two:

I know it isn't their canned food you are discussing, but I got nervous.

Kato eats their canned food but not the kind in the articles you posted.

Not a negative spin at all. I appreciate the input. I'm not too worried, it can be purchased at some other pet stores (small, private owned) in the area or you can have it delivered to your home if you want to pay the shipping.

I fed this for years...I really like it. 8) I just don't have easy access to a Petco anymore...
