I didn't even like cats until I took in a black cat about 9 years ago from a boyfriend that couldn't keep him, his name was Shadow. It didn't take long for me to fall in LOVE! He was my boy, he followed me everywhere. He was a total sweetheart.
Last year I was devistated to come home and find him dead on my living room floor. He wasn't acting sick or anything, the vet suspects he may have had cardiomyopothy (a heart attack basically).
We spent a couple of months mourning, Sunny was pretty messed up as well, she thought he was her "mother". She actually tried to suckle him when she was a kitten.
I didn't think I should get another black cat after being so heart broken over losing Shadow. After a few weeks of looking on the internet, I came across a litter of black kittens that a resuce was adopting out. This one kitten caught my eye. When the rescue was at Petsmart, I went to meet her and they had her in a cage with her mom and littermates. She was making a spectical of herself!! Standing straight up on her haunches, biting her toy, jumping her sisters, totaly putting on a show. While I was considering laying offical claim to her, I had people next to me pointing at her and saying "Oh, I like that one!" So I ran over and filled out the paper work!
Every morning I wake up with Sasha's little black butt in my face (she insists on sleeping next to my head) and I'm so happy I got another black cat. There IS
something about black cats!
