Renaissance Faire

Anything that doesn't fit into the other three catagories

Postby mnp13 » August 2nd, 2010, 12:17 am

We went to the Sterling Renaissance Faire today, so I took some pictures...

It was Highland weekend, so there were bagpipes, dancing and some Highland Games demos as well.

My sister is the head costumer at the faire and was just thrilled to find out that the actors decided to try out the caber toss... these costumes have over 200 yards of hand pieced fabric making up all of those woven stripes. That's not printed cloth or ribbon; that's all cut and sewn.

This is not cropped in, I was at the end of the run, and about 6 inches from being stepped on a few times.

Yup. Each red band has a band of black on each side. Each yellow band has black on each side as well. Every yard of that has three yards of fabric... adds up fast!!

I can't imagine having the patience to try to put something so elaborate together! The costumes look amazing.

Amazing faire! I hope you let everyone there know you are a professional photographer, because if I was in it, I would love to have some photos. Especially if I were the chick in the simple dress, throwing the telephone pole. :giggle:

So if I wanted to do an art project with that last picture, how would you feel about that? ;) Stunning shot! It would make an awesome scratchboard.
