ePITome Dog Rescue

Postby HappyChick » March 7th, 2011, 9:38 pm

So you know how I've had major stress dealing with a certain "pit bull friendly" rescue or two. Bad foster experiences and all that BS. However, in my little community I've gained the reputation of being the "pit bull lady". People contact me for pit bulls needing help and I simple cannot ignore the need. I've decided to turn the negative experiences into a positive force in the world. From everything I've been through, all the lessons learned, all the sh!t with Dozia and Bee; I decided it was time.

I am not EVER going to foster for a crappy rescue again. I have started my own rescue. ePITome Dog Rescue. I will work exclusively with pit bull type dogs. I feel very good about this. ePITome because pit bull type dogs are the epitome of what I value in a dog. Love, loyalty, intelligence, courage, protective instinct, and most of all they cherish their humans. I don't have to tell you all this, you already know how wonderful our dogs are.

I have learned so much from this forum and hope I can count on all of you to continue to teach me.

I have my first rescue dog. His name is Sunny. He came to me with that name and it is so appropriate for him. I'll post his awesomeness in another thread.

I hope I have the support of this forum because I truly value all the knowledge that is here.

A little update - everything is going wonderfully with the rescue. We have been truly blessed to have great board members, great volunteers, and a welcoming community. I'm surprised at just how much support we've gotten from the community with barely any negative comments about pit bulls coming our way. We have a fantastic opportunity to educate people about pit bulls and we are also strongly advocating local spay/neuter programs. I also feel very fortunate to be able to draw from many things I learned on this forum when discussing dogs. Thanks.

Thank you, Bob! Yes we have a website, www.epitomedogrescue.yolasite.com. It's a free website that will work for us for the time being until we are better established. There is not a forum there, though.
